Transmission Bolt Patterns
Does the W56-D tranny, have the same bolt pattern as the A340H auto tranny(or R151F)?
I'm looking to do a tranny swap on an 86 Turbo Pickup. It's got an auto(yuk), so I was hoping to swap in a W56 from an 87 Runner, and an R151F is a bit too hard to find to be finacially feasable. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure they bolt up the same, other wise there would have to be 2 different engine blocks. I think there is a difference with the pilot between the two though.

So to use "math" 3.4 V6 == A340H, 3.0L V6 == R150, therefore A340H and R150 have same bolt pattern?
If so...dammit!!! I wanted a gear driven t-case!, oh well, the R150 is geared lower.

Options would be the R151F+23spline t-case with an R150 bell housing in place of the R151 bell housing. Or the R150 tranny with a gear driven t-case adapter from MarlinCrawler.com.

Well, upon further research, all the R-series tranny's shared the same bolt pattern. This is confirmed by the fact that the A340H was also an option with the V6(at least in '95).
Now the fun of finding an R150F (or R151F...yeah right...) plus t-case for as cheap as I can get a W56
