trans ratios

My 92 22RE 5spd 4runner has really unpleasant trans ratios. 4th and 5th are too close together, but when I go to 3rd, like townes pass into death valley, it's like I went down to 2nd. Is there a better geared ,bolt-in Toy trans that has better , more even, gear spacing? Thanks.
