I use the 7 pin on my 3rd gen runner for pulling trailers with brakes. For the lighter loads the above works great for small trailers. Most of the electrical problems I deal with on these trucks is where some one has installed aftermarket stereos or hardwired in a trailer wiring.

My 94 was bought new by my dad and came with the converter box. My 89 I don't know. It's custom. However the wiring is all factory and has the same converter as my first truck. Hence my confusion.

Hey rooster what was the final answer? Did your truck already have the box or is that the part you needed?
