Toyota recomends 1.7 quarts? 2 quarts not to hole yet?

Well i got around to changing my transfer case oil today. I put in 2 quarts and it never got to hole yet. Yes, I'm positive that its the right hole. I even got my pinky stuck trying to feel to oil. The manual says fill up until it flows out, but specs say only 1.7 quarts? Please help. The oil is cold?
Also just wondering if i can mix brands of oil is wt. is the same?

You can probably get away with different brands, if similar. I'm not yet comprehending why it's not full with 2 quarts. Mine has always been right at 1.7ish. There's a remote possibility that it's invaded the compartment between the transmission and the transfer case. It would be a bad seal at the t-case input shaft that causes that normally. I ain't sure how it would make its way in there any other way. You should definetly keep it full till it drips out, so do that at least.

Fill it until it gets to the hole, the specs have been known to be wrong.

The specs in my manual were dead on with respect to transfer case/diffs/tranny fill ups.

If I had to guess, my tcase takes a hair over 2qt. But then again I just fill the tcase tranny and diffs till it starts comin out the fill plug with the bulk matrix gear lube we get by the 5gallon bucket at a time at our shop... Free gear oil is the best gear oil

oh man, thats my new quote. lolol.

Is your tranny level ok too? its possible for it to flow from case to tranny is the seal is leaking, and t he tranny level is low.
