Toyota knock sensor saga

So I just wanted to get some opinions and personal experiences other people have had. So my 93 4runner and 01 solara sat for extended periods of time with little use. Both vehicles has since developed knock sensor faults. I replaced the sensor wire in the 4runner when the heads were pulled because of a burnt exhaust valve prior to this happening and got several years of trouble free use out of it. Wish I would have changed the sensor too! Has anyone else had knock sensors go bad after sitting for extended periods of time or am I just really unlucky?

Thanks

I would bet its not the knock sensors themselves, they usually give little trouble. I would look for a bad wire or connection. On my 90 pickup I had to run a new wire to finally cure my problem. I used shielded coax I bought off the net. Good luck either way. I think Toyota put knock sensors on these things so we would always have a certain amount of aggravation in our lives......
