Toyota Intake Meter
Toyota Intake Meter...sorry incorrect name. The correct name is Pair Reed Valve ....what is that?..and it is hard to see it and you really have to know where to look to see it ...I'm asking because I think I have one on my 95 3vze just on the left side below the plenum.I kept hearing a rattling noise for a long time in that area, but could never figure out where it was coming from until last night
I traced the rattle to a rectangle box with a black cover on one side. It looked liked it was attached to some sort of large valve that kinda resembles what the egr valve looks like. The darn thing was making a lot of noise so I pulled what looked like the vacuum hose from it and the noise went away...
is this something I need to put the vacuum hose back on or can I just remove the whole thing and get rid of it I'm sure it has something to do with emissions in some way.
thanks for any advice
Dwayne

jay351....I'm sorry Intake meter is not the correct name for the part I have making noise....it is called pair reed valve
...I found a pic of it in the FSM...http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...n/layoutan.pdf know it's part of the emissions but their is a rectangle box attached to the rear that has a metal tube that goes over to the triangle looking air box right beside the where the VAFM is.It looks like some sort of recirculation system
