Tiny front speaker mod?
#21
i have infinity 4x6 speakers in my 85 dash. 300w max . no cutting the dash, but i did notch the plastic on the speakers mounting area so they would sit in such a way where i could get a couple screws in.
my 85 single cab has (2) 12" subs ,(8) 6x9's, infinities 4x6" wired to phoenix gold tweeters .
1200w in the yota shakes that little mirror to death
im still adding.
ill have a pic in a day or so .

Oh wow! Hey, its not as bad as my friends sound system
Amagin this:
Early 80's firefly, 4" (my old ones) speakers screwed onto the top of the dash, in the trunck is 2 home theader speakers..... Shame to say, it pounds DAMN good.. Also has a 5 dollar deck that he got from a yard sale, they said it didnt work but.....
All his wires are connected with tape, no crimp connectors or anything!

nothing wrong with a sub, just the music that goes thru them most of the time. Ive always had a 10'' in the back of my trucks, I cut out the tool box lid behind the drivers seat for the sub, lined it with 1/4'' thick rubber and ran all the wires under the carpet. doesnt get in the way if someone needs the back seat, gives the double bass kick the feeling its meant for.
My mustang is a little rigged though, instead of cutting out some more metal for the 6x9's, i screwed them into the plastic and cut out some sheet metal to fill in the gap. looks good for a track car.

I have been trying to think of a spot for a 10" sub in my truck. I was thinking about doing the same thing you did Slowboost, but I can't loose the storage space. I got tons of gear that needs to come with me daily. I was thinking about just placing it ontop of the seat or something. Ideas?
Sorry for the thread jack Clint!

i didnt want to either, but i ended up just putting a tool box in the bed for my trunk. works pretty good, i bolted my fork mounts to the bottom of the box and can still close the tailgate with my bike cocked a little towards the center of the truck. holds 2 bikes on the side of the toolbox and room for the downhill's in the center to be tied down.

Same here. Though I don't even like the way rollbars look. Hate em actually. But I do like the added safety. They've saved my life before.
But I'm eventually gonna flat bed, so I'll have a great excuse to use these 20mm ammo cans I got laying around.

You know it!
When I was younger that was one of my dream trucks! Too bad 22re's don't sound the way it did in the movie... I had a 2wd remote control truck, extactly the same as the BATF truck. Too bad I wrecked it doin wheelies, donuts and jumps

adding some good bass to a standard cab is pretty easy with one of them BAZOOKA tubes that are self amplified. I had the smallest which i think was a 6 1/2" (they do 8 and 10 i believe) that I installed in a couple different vehicles, pickup, sedan and hatchback, and it always sounded really good. The bonus with the self amplified ones, is they have a single connector and a couple straps that hold it in, so it pops out super easy if you need to get it out of the way for a little bit. (plus the amp is in it, if you had two vehicles, like a trail rig and dd, you could switch it back and forth in seconds)
just an option for yas to consider
