Timing is not lining tdc on 22re half chain link off

  • Changed motor after mine blown.
  • Practically rebuilt other one and had timing off so I pulled tcc and lined it up to what I thought was tdc but guess not.
  • Took tcc off again and noticed that while crank is on tdc the cam is about a half link advanced can't seem to get it to line up, chain will not allow it, either it's advanced or a half link behind.
  • DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS? OR IS THIS CORRECT?
  • I can get the truck running by the distributor but in that position it back fires like it's out of time but while running I can move distributor again and have it running perfect BUT in that position it will not start back.
  • ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

You need to line up the camshaft dowel at 12, not the dimple.
