Timing Chain Problems
Just installed a new timing chain in my 22re
It started right up, sounded fine for about five seconds, then started rattling just like it did when the chain was worn out
Let it run for about 5 minutes and the noise never went away
After this I pulled the my valve cover off, everything still looked right
Anyone have any ideas what could be the cause...?

Valve lash, rod bearing, flat camshaft, piston slap, engine fan hitting shroud, EGR making noise, injectors all come to mind. I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH, it is IMPOSSIBLE to diagnose a weird sound looking at black and white type.
So many people do this and I do not know why it is so hard to understand that you will be just chasing nonsense for no reason wasting your time and others time without a VIDEO.
Noob or not, it's just COMMON SENSE.
I think the mods need to start making it mandatory for people to post up VIDEOS when someone wants an engine sound diagnosed or the thread gets deleted.

right now I am assuming it's a rod bearing. Tear apart the motor put it back together I bet you I am 99% right in saying your noise will go away. The other 1% says it's your everyday 22re tick.

^^^I think that make XXX's point exactly. The OP says his truck is making noise, Help Me!!!
Is it internal or external to the motor? Top end or bottom end? RPM dependent, constant, or whatever? One man's tap is another man's worst nightmare. We can't help you without more information.
This goes for EVERYBODY.
