Timing belt help!!!
Finishing up the head gasket job on my 95 runner with the 3.0
Installing the timing belt, I got everything lined up as it should be with tension on the belt on the drivers side. When I pull the pin on the tensioner it tensions up but there is still some slack in the belt untill I start turning it.
Everytime I spin the crank the markings jump a tooth everytime the belt makes a full revolution.
What am I doing wrong? Ive had the belt on and off atleast 15 times now, getting tired of getting it wrong.
What am I missing here??

From: Columbia River Gorge, Oregon...east side
What matters is that the cam and crank alignment marks match the TDC marks every 2 revolutions of the crank. It will be many revolutions before the marking on the belt line back up....they are there only for initial install.

yep, good to go!
it freaks most people out (including myself) but you are good to hook as long as the marks were all lined up correct when you started. they will be off once they turn over.

good deal, glad to hear!
I was so nervous and didn't think the truck was going to run when I did my timing belt for the first time, turned the key and it's been running for many a mile since. It's amazing the confidence boost you get with stuff like this. It's really not that hard and most of the time, you probably do a better job than a shop would. After all, you always care much more about your rig than anyone else does!
