Timing a 3.0

Timing a 3.0
I hooked up my timing light and inserted my paperl clip into the little slots like it shows in the picture. My timing was at 10 degrees TDC. I took the paper clip out and it was still 10 degrees TDC. Could it be my paper clip was not doing its job?

thanks for the information. I did not check for the check engine light blinking. Theres grease in the fittings so I could not tell if the clip was in the correct place.

I could do a write-up of it, but 4crawler has a good one.

If you have a V6, you need to apply vacuum to the throttle opener as well, described in the FSM.
