Took my 1990 4runner to get aligned and the mechanic said the wheel bearings needed to be tightened and that it would cost 300$. Can someone help me out and tell me how to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

You can do it yourself very easily and save yourself the cash if you have the time and right tools. I used this youtube 5 part video series to complete my front brake job on my 92' less than a week ago.

As long as you have a socket set, 54mm or 2 1/8" socket for the spindle nuts, ratchets, open end wrenches, torque wrench, punch, a few different length flat head screw drivers and a steel & brass hammer. Thats it, it should only take you an hour per side and if your going to take the rotors/hub off. While you have them off, that would be the time to check for wear and either re-pack or install new wheel bearings (inner/outer), wheel seals and even your brakes. The complete brake ran me less than $150 and my labor, doing it yourself would definitely save you some coin.
