tight valve clearance cause low compression

I have been tearing into my 91 3.0 because a compression test showed no compression on number 6 or number 1. I got the valve covers off tonight and there is not clearance on ( i cant remember ) several of the valves in the engine. Of course being not a through mechanic I did not do the leak down test but most of the cyliners were at 120 - 130 lbs. What I am wondering is do I do a valve adjustment and put it back to gether hoping that is the problem or do I go ahead and tear the heads off to see if any of the valve are burnt? I plan on measureing them again tomorrow and recording a much more accurate reading.

I would make sure that there is clearance (to much is better, at least you know the valves are closing) then do a comp test. If you still have no compression I would say your head gaskets are gone.
