Thermostats easy to replace with no fan or radiator in the way!!!
Holy crap!?!?! Whis was supposed to be an easy afternoon of replacing valve cover gaskets. Sorry, I didn't take any pics or any thing like that, like I said, supposed to be easy. YEAH RIGHT!! Started easily enough, unplug this unbolt that, driver's side was easy. Then time for the pass. side. I didn't know when I started that I had to drain the coolant. Thought that I could just unbolt the phelum and move it enough to get to the other cover. So when I remove the skid plate, I find that the drain plug is broke. I try to remove the rest of the plug and the whole nut comes off the radiator. Of course JB Weld didn't work cause it was only 30 degrees last night. So this morning, it's a new radiator, and while I'm in there, a new thermostat. GOOD NEWS--- I found out that the pass. side valve cover was missing one bolt, one broke off, and one loose, all under the phelum (god I hope that is the right name for it.) So those got repaced and no drilling and retapping holes. All of this to add to the new battery Sat. morning and it's aroung $350 on the truck this weekend.
