Question takes a while to start when the truck is cold?

i have a 91 pickup 3vze 5spd, 116k on it, i got the head gaskets dont on it last year and ever since then it has been giving me problems starting when the truck is cold, once it starts it runs great, and once its starts even when its still cold if you try and start it again it will start right up, just that first time is an issue, does anyone know what this can possibly be? please help me thanks

Might be the cold start injector. Check that the connector is in place, and the resistance of the injector is normal (2-4 ohms).

There is a component called a "start injector time switch" that controls the cold start injector during starting. The FSM has a test for it in the EG2 section. Download the PDF here:

i agree with the cold start injector. just check it and see if its the problem. make sure your battery is fully charged. batteries get weak in cold weather. another thing to check.
