A/T oil temp light

So I went out today and played in a little VA clay, you know the good stuff haha, and i was coming some and my a/t oil temp light came on. So I was thinking the trans cooler got clay on it and wasn't breathing. But i get home and look at it and well thats not the problem, but it was a little dirty and that probly doesn't help. But i check the trany oil and she was a lil low but not by much, but i do notice some little pices of something on the bottem of the stick. Is they trany going? Im gonna try and flush it at school here soon. but i just wanted to see what y'all think.

I am having the same problem and only notice it after one of two events:

1. when using 4wd (either 4H or 4L) extensively.

2. after clearing some thick mud.

I haven't been able to differentiate between the two since they frequently go together, but I have had one time when I was tooling around on loose rock roads at the hunting club and the temp light came on after about 30 min of 4H driving.
