Swapping rear seatbelts for front seatbelts? ('94 extended cab 4x4)
Hello! 1994 pickup, extended cab, 4x4, stock 60/40 seats
As many of y'all have found, the driver's side belt is frayed, has retracting trouble, etc. I've read all I can find on the issue, here and on the web at large. I see people having some success with cleaning the belt, rewinding the retract mechanism, etc, with various results and last varying amounts of time. My driver's belt is badly frayed and not worth the trouble. Replacements are not cheap.
It occurred to me that the rear belts have been used maybe a dozen times since driving it off the dealer lot 30 years ago. Has anyone tried swapping the rear driver's side belt for the front? I know the driver and passenger's side are interchangeable, but this leaves the passenger with a dodgy belt which I'm not keen on. I also know the front and rear belts have different part numbers, which doesn't necessarily mean a swap won't work. I am hoping I can get an answer from one of you fine folks before I start pulling plastic panels.
Thank you!
