I have an 88 runner. 22RE 5spd. Now I want to get busy with some mods. Just some minor wheelin' and general funtionality in off road situations. I need to stave off some rust which is creepin into the typical places around the fender wells. Also the best 4 in. lift for the light off road use and $$ spent. $$ is always the hurdle. New tires and wheels etc. Any and all advice would be cool. I imagine 3-4 grand would do wonders.

 

Try running a search using keywords for the things you are interested in opinions on...."lift, tires, rust, etc." You'll get many more opinions than there are mods and there's been plenty already given. Run the search. Then, when you have an idea of what's already been/being done, undoubtedly you'll have more specific questions.

 

I would suggest to skip out on the 4 inch lift and get ball joint spacers and a light torsion bar crank in the front and maybe some downey 2 or 3 inch lift leafs in the rear, then put a set of 33 10.50's on your stock wheels and maybe a lunchbox locker in the rear if you thought you really needed it.
