So i attemped to replace my trans mount, ive taken all bolts and nuts off 6 in total i believe, but the mount is still secured to crossmember and wont budge, can anybody tell me what ive missed? Thanks

 

there will be 8 bolts it sounds like you missed some.

I would guess 2 holding it to the crossmember.

 

Ok so i got the mount replaced and all, but when i turned it on, there was an insane consistent vibration just idling in park. The vibration escalates with rpms so i thought engine mounts? The truck drives and shifts fine but because the vibration is so bad that i wont take it above 2000 rpms haha.anybody got an idea? I thought id be able to drive it today but i guess not, back to the rx7 for abit lol poor me

 

Was the vibration the reason you thought you needed to replace the mount??

Did you get the correct mount ?? Chinese measurements off?? What mount did you go with ??

I know the ones with the polyurethane tend to vibrate more the the stock style rubber ones.

get the mount installed correct??

Have the crossmember on tight ??

This is how bad that the whole vehicle shakes and could be seen from 100' away ??

 

No this vibration was not there before, everything is tight, im not sure about where the part came from i just bought it at lordco, matched it with mine and put it on, it was abit of a pain aligning the trans to be bolted lol but all the bolts are in and tight, how tight does the single big nut in the middle have to be? Could i have misaligned something between trans and engine to cause vibration? Like i said the vibration goes up with rpm's

pretty simple it did it after you had it apart.

So something you did is not right .

Is it the new mount??

it is almost like you have a solid mount and it transmits all the vibrations *** If you by mistake thought you needed to crank on the big nut in the center you have indeed made this into a solid mount

who knows might be pretty easy to see in person .

 

I havent tightened the big nut at all, all bolts are tightened i dont get it, should i try and put the old mount back on and see if the vibration persists? Could i have bent or broken something internal when i lifted it to replace the mount? I also replace my fuel lines too, could i have gotten them mixed up and cause it to not run properly, Causing a bad engine vibration? These are the only things ive done recentl. might i add that theres more atf leakage that usual too and it smokes abit underneath

 

It's easy enough to put the old mount back in. That'll tell you for sure if it's related to your new mount or if you messed something up during the install.

 

Yea good call, im buying a used POS diesel car today so now I can try to wrench the truck again because I'm starting to feel bad driving my brothers RX7 into winter haha so yea ill get to it again soon
