Strange front end noise??? clanging /ticking

Strange front end noise??? clanging /ticking
HEY,
Not sure what the heck to think about this? When driving (it seems after the car has been driven for more than an hour / or has a chance to really heat up?) There is a almost ticking sound from the front end it seems to be from the driver side but it could be the centre of the vehice. It was doing it last night and it only really started after I had been driving about an hour or more? Went home and went to bed, this morning on my commute to the office it didn't make a click or clank at all?? IT is so weird. I dunno what do you guys think?? Could it be a low fluid level in the tranny or elsewhere?? I dunno I am such a newbie!! Thanks fo rhte opinion.
