I am going to be storing my 92 P/U for the next 10 months or so, as I will be on the other side...

Its already in the garage on jack-stands. I wanted to leave the tires on, mainly since its too close to the wall to remove the pass side ones, so the tires are on the ground.. but 90% of the weight in on the jack stands. I know this means my wife cant spin the tires, but I am not too worried about the seals on the diffs and xcase.

I am more worried about the motor, it has a blown HG so running it is only a maybe. The dealership thinks it will be okay to fire up once a month for 30-45 seconds to get the oil moving.... What do you think???

Any other ideas would be great. I plan to tear the head off when I get home, I will have the intake cleaned, head gone thru, and injectors sonicly cleaned and flow matched.....Should run great... pesky HG's.....

The only thing I could think of is putting some Sta-bil in the gas, and yank the battery and put it on a trickle charger. Since you already have a blown HG and will be most likley rebuilding when you get back pour some Marvel Mystery fluid in the cylinders (just to keep the rings from freezing up) I would'nt worry about the oil. When You get back you will need an oil change anyways. Have the wife Throw a couple boxes of ArmnHammer in the cab every month (to keep it fresh) while you are gone. No worries Just come back in one peice.

I already added amsoil fuel stabilizer and topped off the tank.. should be good there. I am considering leaving the battery in so she can start it. Its an optima yellow top and I am not too worried about it...

I am still debating using a fogging type oil, like you said, to help the rings.... but firing it would do the same. It fires fine, even with the blown HG, the HG is only blown between the 3&4 cyls, I am not getting coolant in the exhaust, or making coolant or oil, I think running it once a month is okay.... correct me if I am wrong...

I wouldn't even worry aboout it. My rig sat 9 months and fired up just fine. I think all you need is some protection from the rings rusting to the cylinder walls. You'll be fine. Isn't that how marine engines are stored?

Yep, my dads truck and boat usually go 7-9 mo/ year without any thing, not even ring protection... I am probally overthinking this.. :-)
