STILL trying to deal with my idle issue...

Well guys I've gotten another idea, and I think I might take it a step further STILL
My father's has this little GMC Sonoma that he said I can borrow for really as long as I need to (it's just a spare truck; he drives his 04 F150 daily)
The new plan might be a COMPLETE ENGINE OVERHAUL
I would like to pull 300k from the motor with no lower end work, just for bragging rights, but you don't always get want you want, ya know?
I think that if I'm going to tare all the way down and pull the entire front and top end off of the motor, I could to one more step and just remove the trans and motor mounts and just lift the dang motor out of the truck and rebuild it
It's not like it's burning oil or has any bad blow-by, so I could get away with just a re-hone and new rings. It would be good peice of mind to know that there's all new main bearings and rod bearings that are going to keep me going WELL past when the odometer reaches 300k.
I just think it would be the wise thing to do while I had the chance and oportunity. And it really wont cost me too much more. I'm already getting the entire gasket kit, so the only thing extra I'll have to pay for is the main and rod bearings, piston rings, and machine work, cause I would have both the head and block resurfaced just for good measure. I think I could finish the job easily in a week, plus it's probably going to cost me 400-500 less than a motor with the components I'm putting in would cost me already assymbeled.
Sound like a wise choise to you guys?

I have a garage, but I'll have to clean it up a little first and get me an engine stand too, to use for all of a week, lol. I may just borrow one

I'll have to see what the machine shop can do, but probably not...
but I may have made a new decision about the rebuild

but I want to call LC and see if that kit comes with the timing set with the metal guides, and if not ask if I can upgrade to it
