Steering stabilizer

I just installed bilstien shocks and rear all pro off road rear coils on my 95 4 runner. I got it aligned and the mechanic said it was going to drive straight as an arrow, however the steering wheel was going to give a little.

When I drove it, the steering wheel was giving alot. I had to correct my direction and the steering wheel was shimming uncontrollably. It was so bad the vehicle was swaying from side to side in my lane of traffic that I'm surprised I did not get pulled over for DUI.

Are the above actions caused by needing a new steering stabilizer? (The tie rod recall was done and the mehcanic said there was nothing he could do.)

Please help

You need a new mechanic. There is something else wrong, worn ball joints, tie rod ends, etc., something. A new stabilizer may help, but it'll be a bandaid in your case, not a solution. Find a shop that does a lot of front end work, an alignment shop maybe.

I agree - sounds like an alignment issue. If you read any of the threads about the relay rod recall, you will see A LOT of cases of screwed up alignment afterwards. Did they give you a printout of the alignment? If not, take it back and tell them the alignment is out. Since they don't have any evidence to the contrary, make a scene until they put it up on the machine and check it, and provide a printout of the alignment showing all the elements (toe, camber, caster) in spec. They should check the tie rods, etc as part of the alignment.
