Steering Shaft Splines

My first gen is still at the fab shop (ugh)... they’re now replacing the IFS steering box because the SAS and lift amplified the play in the 30 yr old box... I was there today and we noticed that the steering shaft also has a lot of play. Turns out that there is no application specific replacement I can find for it.

I’m fine with building my own, but could use some help identifying the splines at the box and on the column at the firewall. Can anyone confirm that they are both 11/16 - 36? I don’t have the truck here to research in person.

Thanks!

Get your service manuals out there should be directions for adjusting this.

And no safe bet it's a metric measurement.

I think we’re talking about different things. The steering box is brand new Trail Gear. I want to build a custom steering shaft from firewall to box and need the spline counts/sizes at both ends

the joint in the shaft is replaceable. is there any reason why you want to build a custom one over using an oem one? if you must, can you just cut the spline section off and weld the ends to your new shaft? I understand I did not answer your initial question, sorry. was just looking at an alternative.
