steering column

my turn signal/light switch is broke on my 85 4runner. i went to the junk yard and saw an 87 4 runner with an identical switch. would i be able to put the 87 turn signal/light switch on my 85

the guy said 80 bucks for the whole steering coulm for 80 but he doesnt have the key
