Spot Lights
Has anyone put spot lights on their A pillar (like what police cars have)? I am considering doing this on my Toyota as it has a rust spot on the drivers side A pillar right where one would mount.
I normally don't like to cut into the A pillar (or any part that is not easily replaced), but I figure since it has a pin hole where it rusted out, why not put something useful there instead of just fixing the rust spot.

Good place to check for parts would be a junkyard. I was there recently and saw piles and piles of old taxi cabs. For being in an area that doesn't have a big taxi service, this was a huge shock. We have like 2 taxis for the entire city.

Junk yard in central Utah. I pulled off an old utility truck. I get a ton of stuff in there so the guy was like "the spotlight you can have!"
It was crome and I used a reverse electrolysis to strip off the crome and then powder coated every part. The tricky thing was getting the angle right. I pulled it off an old 70's Ford where the widow was much more steep than my Yota. I had to machine a special part to get it to work. It took some monkeying but wasn't too bad. The great thing was when I wired it up it TURNED ON!! Still works. I didn't have to replace the bulb. The thing works great. I use it for spotting cattle on our ranch. I can seem them for over 1000 yards with that light.
