sPOD install

Years of wiring and gadgets being installed lead to the inevitable birds best of relays and fuses in the corner of my engine bay. I opted to run everything into a power center set up and went with the sPOD bantam with touch screen controller. I used a metal tech jeep engine bay mount and cut/mod the feet to fit nicely behind my battery. Mounted my controller overhead. I have my front locker, off-road lamps (LP6 high/low/DRL), rock lights, headlamps (H4 harness power), and rear power outlet all tuning through it at this point. Am still removing some old sound system stuff (big red wire in corner of engine bay) but I am Very pleased with the results. Really cleaned up behind my dash and engine bay. The sPOD allows for on and off road modes, with things like dimming and strobe features which is neat I guess.

Before..

ALL of this wiring did not go back in the truck..

Installed, after

Controller mounted to mirror mount

Jeep bracket

That cable to hook up the alternate switch pod is called a “Power-Over-Ethernet Cord” or POE. It’s most likely a Cat5 cord as well. Pretty much it’s a cable that’ll let you run a network through and not need a separate power cable, the same used on a lot of security cámara systems!

Ya, super fun, looks great. If I had a couple more things wired it may be worth it. Excellent job!!!

yes I’m finished with everything now. I ran the extra power needed for the H4 conversion through the sPOD, and the DRL for the Baja designes LP6 lamps is tied to the same circuit so the DRL will always come on with my headlamps. The front locker, rear power outlet I added, rock lights, and of course the high and low beams for the LP6’s are all wired up. I really like that I can set ON and OFF road modes, so I can lock out the front elocker unless I am in off-road mode. Off-road mode also allows for strobing and dimming, which are both useless for me but it’s neat. I also have a small pair of Baja designes squadrons that still need to be wired.
