speed sensor

can anyone please tell me if there is a connection between speedometer not working and auto transmission suddenly not working at the same time. problem happens after driving several miles. 1993 2x2 T100 6cyl.

I'm sure it does, I know my 86 has a speedsensor (#1).

Sounds like a bad speed sensor in the trans, most of the electronic transmissions use the speed sensor to control shifting, and it also sends a signal to the speedo. Not sure about the price but it's easy to replace. You'll find it at the rear of the transmission.

Yep, that was when I knew it was time to finally replace it. I just dealt with the funky speedometer for awhile since it would come and go, but then it started messing with the tranny. When I replaced mine, the dealership was actually the cheapest place to get them. Was an easy less than 5 min. fix.
The speed sensor is on the rear of the transfer case on the passenger side.
