how do you get the back panels off a 94 runner. This is the side panels for the rear?

 

very hard, some do not even advise doing it. I have a 95 runner, and I'm not even going to attempt it.

 

Why is it so hard?

 

not sure, just going by what I here. But I do no I tried to get my pannels off, and they don't enen move.

 

If I remember correctly there are some bolts on the floor holding the panel. Once you remove those start at the small storage holes (?) and work your way around the panel. There are several snap in clips that hold it on. The tough part is getting them all to snap once again when you try to put it back together. I have one that won't so there is a gap between the glass and the plastic in that one spot. All the rest snapped back on nice and easy. I'm sure if I tried a little more eventually I'd get it to catch.

its really not that bad, just takes some time and patience, you'll need to remove the trim at the base of the rear door (tailgate) and I think the trim at the base of the two rear doors. You'll also need to remove anything that is attached to the side panels before you try to remove the body clips that attach the side panels to the metal backing. You'll need a Trim and Panel Remover so you don't break too many of the clips.

I can't really tell you how to do it right now, but its not hard if you take your time and find each body clip (by lightly pulling the panel away and locating where the resistance is coming from) and use the tool to carefully pop them out of the metal backing.
