spark plug problems with 3.0 engine.

well here it is.i pulled a plug to check and see the condition of it,and when i went to put it back it only went about half way.i backed it out to find that it is cross threading or something.its the right plug, and it went in smoothly up until it stopped a quarter inch from seating.now the hole is stripping out.any ideas on how to fix it,mabey without having to remove the head?

You started it off a thread and didn't realize it until you were well into the threads (cross-threaded). The easiest fix to this is to put a helicoil in.

if the treads arent damaged all the way threw then just get the right tap and rethread it. cover the tap w/ some grease so the shavings dont fall into the cylinder. if that dont work then helicoil it. to do that you will still prob. end up removing the head to do it properly.
