Hey guys, I always appreciate your input. Had my truck for around a year now (1988 toyota pickup with a 22re) and im wanting to swap out the plugs. The truck has a stage 2 lc engineering kit and I beleive the cylinders have been bored, previous owner told me its pushing around 150 HP. I picked up some NGK bpr5ey's with factory 0.032mm gap to replace the old. I looked at the old plugs and the gaps looked much wider. They are still NGK bpr5eys as recommended by the factory manual but i checked the gap on them and it was 0.044mm.

Im a little confused and cant find any info on this? Could this just be natural wear that caused them to widen (seems like alot to me)? or would these purposely have been widened due to the engine uprades? Is there any downfall to running factory gap plugs after running plugs with a 0.044mm gap for so long?

And by ignition system do you mean distributor and plug wires. Im pretty sure my wires are aftermarket but Ill have to check on the rest when i get back from work

yes ask lce, but what i meant was mostly is it a stock coil/ignitor. probably too late now
