Someone help me with my TPS adjustment

I've been trying to figure this out for a long time and I am really frustrated.

Anyway, I can't get anything in spec. I just bought a $40 used tps w/a plug and still can't get that into spec. I've been sitting here for a couple hours trying to figure out what the heck i'm doing wrong.

The tps's are completely different too.

This is my throttle body and this is the new (used) tps

The top is the old and the bottom is the new one I just got

Why are they so different?????????

This is off of my 86

I have a 3.0, so, could not comment on the differences between those two parts. Are they both factory Toyota TPS's?

As for the adjustment, could you describe a bit more what is happening? Which resistance measurement are you have trouble with? How many do you get in and which one makes the other or others fall back out?

Okay,

OLD/NEW
First test on both...(both same multimeter at 20k ohms)
0.70 and 0.02

Second test (both at 200 ohms)
infinite and 9.6

Third test (both at 200 ohms)
Infinite and 18

Fourth test (old at 20k/new at 2000)
5.07 and 1106

Fifth test (both at 20k ohms)
5.68 and 6.15

So, is that in spec???

You have the wrong TPS. There are 2 different ones, pre-89 and post 89.

Maybe it is not date specific but there are 2 different ones. My 88 was different then my 89, 92, 93 and 95. The tabs are 90 degrees like your picture show. You should not have to turn the TPS to install it. It should just slide on.

Someone may have changed the engine, or throttle body at some point. The electrical plugs are the same though so the TB can be interchanged.
