Hello!
So this is my first post. I've only had my 1988 pickup 4x4 v6 efi for about a week now and im loving it! I have a couple questions though that should be pretty simple, im just totally lost, and will be for a while. First off, I just got back from a trip and i left my truck sitting outside my buddies house and when we got back the thing wouldnt even turn over however the battery was holding a charge and i could still roll start it. I figure it could be worn solenoids. If my solenoids are worn could this also be the reason why every time i start my truck i get really low rpms and need excessive power to get it moving in 1st for the first minute after start up? Can anyone please give me a detailed description about where to find them, and how to tell if something needs to be replaced? Also I'm going to change my steering box today and i need to know why the haynes manual says to mark the steering shaft and the intermediate shaft? I bought another used steering box so i have no idea where the piston inside would be and i still do not understand why it would have to be in the same position anyways? any help is appreciated.

PS. I bought another steering box to throw in there from someone over the internet and its been used heavily and when i turn the piston i can here it sucking the little fluid that is left inside. I have no idea what that fluid is (water, power steering fluid, ATF, etc.) Is there a way that i could flush it out or is it fine to just swap it and throw it in there? THANKS!
