yup been done. 305/302 or 5.0L Chevy 4.3 Vortec is an easy drop in, and a buick 3.8 is pretty easy too.
the 350 is big and needs custom work done to the ooil pan to clear the ifs diff, plus cooling is an issue (Youll need electric fans)

It's been done thousands of time for decades. Use Google.
Here's a head start - try Novak, Advanced Adapters, Downey, and even *gasp* Northwest Offroad.

Yep, but then you have the problem of exploding the transmission...
Small blocks in Yotas are wonderful, but stay mild and drive sanely unless you just enjoy breaking stuff.
You want 500 ponies, then get an NV4500. And stonger drivelines. And stronger axles. And.... (In that 87, you'll want to be gentle on that IFS...)

LT1 is older. If can find the pics of my 2000 S-10 with the LS1 stoker motor.
383 LS1
400 crank
comp cam
port and polished heads
.060 over
Raceing pistons
150 shoot
total hp priceless for a S-10
450 w/o the shoot
to fast with the shoot.
If you are going to do a 350, spend the my and do the LS1. this is the best motor for power to waight ratio that Chevy made, 427 L88 motor is the king of all motor.

LT1 is one badass motor. The way it moves my 5000lb Impala shocks the hell out of people! (But I still want a nitrous/turbo setup...)
If you want even more low end grunt, get one that was from an Impala SS or 9C1 (police package) Caprice. Different cam etc than the Firebird/Camaro/Corvette version for more torque.
Since the introduction of the LT1, few mfg's have anything on GM engines. That new LS7 in the Corvette Z06 is SICK.

i'd rather take a run of the mill small block and build it than be stuck with the 2nd gen small blocks with their horrid optispark distributors. you can build just as much or more power than the LT1, and probably do it more cheaply.
