Sluggish acceleration at start

91 pickup 22re. The problem is a sluggish acceleration at a cold start. To describe it better I'll go through what happens the last couple days:

I start it up. I pull it up and close my gate behind me and go through my neighborhood and down one road(through all this it is running normal). I pull up and stop at the sign to drop it to an idle. After the stop and subsequent acceleration it feels like I'm trying to pull a 747 jumbo jet for like 40 seconds. It will work it's way back to normal acceleration usually after I drop it to idle at the next stop sign.

I don't know where to begin. Just did a head gasket, timing chain on it, so ithat cold be anything under the stars. The idle is perfect through it all. Just the acceleration and it does it an odd time and only for a bit as it starts good and drives good after the inevitable sluggishness at the cold start.

anybody ever experience this? I'm grabbing another timing light and fuel pressure tester as I seem to misplaced or loaned mine out.
