I looked and looked and everyone that had a CEL code 43 had a 3.0 and it came back as an ignition issue, is it the same on a 22re?
You know it just freaking figures that this is the weekend I plan on fixing the IACV, doing the brakes, fluid change etc and now this damn CEL pops up. I have a code 43 (see above) and 71 (EGR...... again).
On a good note though I did retime the little beast and that odd little miss at idle has gone away. One down, fifteen hundred to go.

Appears to be the same:
STARTER SIGNAL--NO "STA" SIGNAL TO ECU UNTIL ENGINE SPEED EXCEEDS 800RPM
--IGNITION SWITCH/CIRCUIT
--ECU

Well you probably have the same list I have but here is the link.
43 = Starter signal

Maybe check some grounds and or some of the connectors in and about.

lol that sucks, and you JUST posted about not starting threads lol, if it makes you feel better i just figured out that a weird vibration that ive been having when letting off the throttle was a loose pinion nut
theres fluid everywhere, hopefully the gears are ok..

43 is usually a phantom - happens once and for seemingly no reason. If there really wasn't an STA signal at the ecu, the circuit opening relay wouldn't power the pump while cranking and it wouldn't start. So unless it keeps recurring, I'd ignore it.
