Should I get wheel spacers? Pics inside.....

OK guys I have had a few people tell me that I should look into getting some bolt on wheel spacers to widen the track width of the 4Runner to reduce the chances of a rollover while wheeling offroad. I am running 16x7 Cragar Soft 8's with 4" BS wrapped with 285/75/16 Bighorn MT tires. Here is a few pics of the truck the way it sits now with the 1/4" washer type spacers. What do you think?

I read somewhere to go one inch wider for every inch you go higher. your truck looks grt, thank for posting pics. would it look better and be better off road with spacers? probably. but you would then need some kind of flare or funny mud flap since you would most likely be spraying rooster tails on the freeway and getting pulled over and getting rock chips on the rear quarters. two pairs of good machined ones would prolly run you about $180. your wheel bearings would wear out quicker too. my opinion is that if you do not need them to clear larger tires, diff offset rims, etc., then do not get them.

if you do decide to go with them ebay has good spacers pretty cheap. i had to go with a 1.5 inch spacer cause of uca issues and i have had zero issues as of yet

I myself am not a fan of wheels that "stick out". Sure I don't build up my Toyotas; but I would think wheel spacers add extra stress to areas that aren't used to it. Plus, I like stock looking rigs.

i would get the spacers for offroad use, better stability and slightly better suspension performance with the very small side effect of increase damage potential from increased leverage. but your 4runner looks great as is and getting spacers would cause problems with the law...

my say is do it right or don't do it at all, get some 1" spacers and some fender flairs and rock it or just leave it and forget about it..

I think it looks pretty good the way it is too. I'd have to do the math but i'm not convinced your going to gain much in rollover resistance adding an inch or so to your width.

nice looking 4runner...now why dont you get the spacers, put it on the truck when you go 4wheeling and then take the spacers off when you just driving in town.
