Shock Length (I've read a lot of threads)?

Hi everyone. I've read a lot of threads and am still confused. I was just looking at my new shocks with the OME 901 springs installed in the rear of my runner. The shocks I was recommended by Doestch Tech and others here were 13"-21.5". The springs are only supposed to deliver 1.5" of lift, but at that ride height the shocks that were recommended only have about 1" more of travel before they reach their max. They are definately not riding in the middle of their overall operation length. It appears as though I would need shocks that are about 13.5-14.5" compressed and 24" lengthened. Does this sound right to accomodate this amount of lift? If I put the truck frame rails on jack stands and let the axle droop it looks like I would need about 4-5" more of travel right now. I know that this exact situation wouldn't really happen so I was thinking 3" more of travel would work pretty well.

Chris

your best bet is to jack the one side up, and see what the non jacked side compresses to, and what the jacked side droops to. that'll be a more natural measurement for what you could actually experience.
