Shifter seat and bushing replacment!
Let me start at the begining here.
Awhile back a certain somone "borrowed" my truck and took it 4x4ing, after that night the truck never shifted the same.
LONG VERY sloppy shifts, and reverse and 5th hardly worked, you had to twist the shifter (bad on its own) to get it into them..
since my clutch was slipping I ordered the marlin crawler 1200lb semi metalic clutch kit and I also got the shifter seat and bushing.
after install ... wow.
The clutch is amazing! grabs HARD! but not as bad as a ceramic.
The seat and bushing made a WORLD of differance.
I now have VERY VERY crisp clean shifts, and it fixed my reverse and 5th problem !!
So to ANYONE to has this model truck/tranny.
DO the Marlin crawler seat and bushing.
It has amazed me how much of a differance.
My old shifter seat and bushing where still in great shape but...well EFF that stock ☺☺☺☺, this is amazing!
I think im going to go for a drive
altho I look like a damn fool... I almost always come close to stalling the truck now, clutch is so grabby its crazy
anyone know what the break in period of a clutch is?

my basic rule of thumb i go with for clutch break in period is 500 miles, after that your golden. before that tho keep the revs under 3k, no really hard acceleration, basically just baby it..

I paid 200 for the kit from marlin
plus 25 for shipping
plus conversion
plus 80 doller border fee :wall:
Was worth it, pretty close to what I would pay for an oem kit here..

I put the MC bushing & 1200 lb clutch in as well during my recent engine rebuild & I LOVE IT! The bushing makes a WORLD of difference in shifting. I'd also recommend switching to a good synthetic gear oil for your tranny cause it made my transmission shift like a different animal! It's awesome.

We where going to put in some MT-90 in the tranny and 75w-90/80w-80 in the t-case.
I am really shocked on how much a difference a 8 doller part can make.
For that cost it has been my best mod yet!

took about 7 hours.
took a few breaks, took about an hour for the flywheel to get re-surfaced and we had some trouble getting the tranny back in.
We also didn't have a tranny jack
So if you had the right tools and didn't have to do it on your driveway sure you could get it done in around 4-5 easy.
Some of the bolts are a BITCH, lol..
Get the shifter SEAT and shifter BUSHING/SOCKET The bushing/socket is what is snapped onto the end of your shifter.. Its only 6 bucks so might as well..
Mine looked perfectly fine, infact I was surprized on how good the shifter seat looked when we took the shifter out.
But now its 1000000x better

YEEEEEEHAW! Boy howdy I tell you what dang diggity. Sooo thought it was my clutch going out that was causing my shiftin problems (having to muscle it into gear). Took apart the shifter, and know what? That shifter socket's bottom half was rubbed completely off, and the boot is little more than a memory of rubber. Anyhoo, I put some hot glue on the bottom of the socket, and flipped the rubber seat upsidedown, put er all back together and tried it out. Turns out that was the exact problem! Great temp fix till my marlin seat and socket come in the mail. Caint imagine how relieved I am that it aint my clutch goin out. Was like I JUST BOUGHT THIS CENTERFORCE DF CLUTCH 2 YEARS AGO!
Ahh... Sigh of relief.
