Shifter seat bushing question. Need an answer after reading threads
I searched a few threads and i still need an answer.
I replaced my shifter seat bushings today. The tranny had this black flat rubber "o ring/washer" on it. I took it out and thew in the new white bushing. The stick doesnt seem to have alot of spring in it. It will hang over ont he left a little bit.
So should I pull it apart and throw the black rubber thing back in?

You're supposed to take the rubber one out and not use it it's probably because it's an old tranny....it doesn't help when everyone makes it seem like the new shifter seat and socket makes the tranny like new.....I didn't really notice a whole lot of difference.

Yea it is out. I had a bunch of tiny bits in the tranny shifter hole, i cleaned those out but that rubber washer thing never got installed again.
The T case had a rubber washer too and i just left it on. I did have alot of slop in the t case, but its gone now.
Not alot of difference with the tranny shifter, just the spring action is gone. Maybe its because of the new cup on the stick?
