Shift lag

Is this after you stop or while you are coasting to a stop? If the clutch system is in good shape, then it will still have resistance when going into first while coasting. It should not be difficult to get into gear if you are stopped. If it is difficult, the first thing to check is the clutch system. Eventhough you have a new clutch, it could be the hydraulic system. Either a bad master or slave cylinder or air in the lines.

You mean that the engine needs to be spinning at 1200 RPMs before the truck will start to go? I would say that is normal, especially if you have oversized tires. If I let out the clutch at idle, my truck will roll a little, but the motor generally bogs down. In 4Low it will not bog much and will drive at idle. If you wanted to be able to drive at idle, your best bet other than a V8 swap would be lower axle gearing or possibly a cam shaft designed to produce more torque at idle. Generally, a 4 cylinder engine is not going produce enough torque at idle to carry a heavy 4 wheel drive pickup.
