Rust repair on 2nd gen Xtra cab pickup

I recently bought a rust free bed for my truck so after installing it I am going to repaint the whole thing since it badly needs it. Anyway, since I won't have a rusty bed anymore, I really want the rest of the body to be rust free too. Which brings me to my question. How can I get at the rust that has started underneath my side window? Can I pry out that window seal, or will that ruin it? Has anybody had any expierience with this?

Here is the location I'm talking about:

The other side is even worse; the paint is bubbled and cracked.

Thanks,
Rob

with rust you have to get it all or it keeps spreading like cancer. you are gonna have to treat the in side of the panel as well. yes, i would pull the window.

Will I need a new seal or will I be able to re-use that one? Any idea on price of that seal from the dealer?

deff gunna want to pull the seal. not sure if it'll be reusable. i'd bet it might just fall apart due to age anyway when you pull it apart.

Rob it looks like to me that it either has been in an accident or it wasn't prepped correctly when they repainted the truck. I never seen a 2nd gen rust there before.

To answer your question you will have to cut out the rust and replace with new metal. If you decide to grind the rust out and put body filler it will come back within a year or so.
