Rumbling in 4th & 5th Gear.

hey everyone.
question....a few weeks ago i was driving my truck and when i put it into 4th and 5th gear, my truck starts to rattle and rumble. scared the ˟˟˟˟ outta me! i pulled over to check underneath and i didnt see anything outta the ordinary.
Ive searched the forums with similar problems but idk....it only happens
55-60mph 4th & 5th gear when i step on the gas pedal.

So it happens at that speed under engine load only.

I'd buzz through your driveline. Check the output of the Xcase, U joints and pinion play. Also check your rear axle U bolts, leaf perch (cracked weld).

To me it sounds like driveline vibration.

Hey guy! I see this is an old post but it is the closest thing I could find to my problem. My truck (97 4runner 4cyl manual base) was running fine all morning this past weekend until I was driving down the highway with a friend. Midway through our trip, the truck started to vibrate. I figured maybe a tire weight flew off but when I dropped her off I saw nothing missing. I got back on the highway, threw it in 5th and realized it was only happening in that gear. Concerned, I got off the highway, stopped at a red light, and when I got back up to speed it started shuttering in 4th. A mile or so down the road it started in 3rd. Engine has all of it's power but shutters as if running at low RPMs when in these 3 gears and accelerating/maintaining speed. I can't for the life of me figure it out.
