Ruff Idle When Cold
Hi all,
I'm new to the forums and have enjoyed reading the posting. I have a 1987 toyota extra cab p/u with the 22R inline 4 with 2 bl carb. I have a problem that i am having a hard time figuring out. When first starting for the day, it idles ruff. I've checked the timing, plugs and wires have been changed. Plugs look like they are running rich, but look fine after running when warmed up.
I've checked the compressions and all are ok, #1 and 3 are 160psi, # 2 and 4 are 140. The only thing i can think of is that the ovcv is bad, i've checked it according to the chilton manual and am not sure if it is working correctly or not. If I disconnect the plug for it and the choke and idle cut off, it will run smooth until warmed up. With that plug diconnected and eng warm, eng die's at idle. Hook it back up and it runs smooth.
I would replace the ovcv, but can not get one unless I buy a new carb ($250). I don't like throwing parts at a problem either, so I thought i'd ask if anyone here had an idea.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Help!!!
Any body? Would setting the valves help? Doas anyone know what the resistance for the OVCV (outer vent control valve) is? How about an EGR problem? This problem is driving me crazy

Thanks any way
Well, I finaly found the problem. My Accel Pump Diaphragm was leaking, thus sending fuel into the vacuum system and into the intake. This was making it run rich until the bvsv took the accel pump out of the system when it warmed up. Know it runs like a champ.
