I was wondering if anyone has a roof rack on their pickup and what they use it for. And where you purchased it or how you fabricated it.

I designed and made this one. I have 4 6" lights on the front and use it to carry as you can see an axe and shovel. But i also throw some gas cans on there and lots of camping gear when the season hits

 

I am building one now, just ran out of wire in my welder. I'm putting many lights on it, shovel, axe, hi lift. Making thread in the next week if I get time.

 

I've always wondered what practical purposes these serve, especially on trucks since there's a good sized bed in the back to throw stuff in.

I can see carrying around additional luggage up there when you're out of room in the back. What else could you shove up there?

 

How have you mounted the actual rack to the roof did you fabricate or how. Im looking at designs currently to figure out how to build one and how to mount it. Suggestions?
