Replacing or Reparing the Dashboard Top

Can someone let me know how involved it is to replace the top portion of the dashboard? There's a crack in it from stern to bow on the dash from too much sun.

It seems like it's a lot of labor to remove everything not to mention the cost of a replacement. Are there kits out there that will do a good job in repairing it? I guess a dash cover would be the easy way out...

The rig is a 1995 4-runner, thanks!

Its actually not that much work.
The funny thing is I just took mine off about 20 minutes ago to try and install a 1st gen altimiter. It took about 20 minutes for me. Im sure you could get a used dash in good condition at pick a part.

You can give these people a call, but it's probably expensive.

Thanks for the link!

I remember hearing about people who did this kind of work.

I wanted to make a "custom" sheet metal dash cover (aka a wider (left - right) and taller (to fit 2-5/8 guages) altimeter cubby that would entend the lenght of the OEM "hole" and then get it covered in foam and matching vinyl.

This looks like the place that can do that!

IMHO much nicer than "fiberglass" and safer too!
