basically , other then glass , your only option is either import a california /arizona box (if you can find one) or build a flat deck .

problem with importing one , by the time it gets to you .. you be into if for at least 1200-1500 ... for a steel bed that will rust .. and in this country , with in 2-3 years .

if you want the truck to last just buy one of slacker's glass boxes and never pay attention to it again. it's the only option that'll last.

What, like this one?

It looks like this now :

I'm gonna build a metal flat bed for it hopefully in the next month or so. Look out for a thread on that. Other than that there really is no option other than finding a good used one which is rare. I do believe that about any 2nd gen shortbed will fit though and I have seen a couple 3rd gen beds on 2nd gens but I don't know what kind of modification they require. They don't look as bad as you would think though.

Yeah.. That truck spent most of it's time in VA and Mississippi so who knows what happened there...

lol the extent of rust on my truck is the inside of the bed, the top ridges where its been scratched from over the years, and even then just surface rust.

Ahh, so the 2wd bed is an option too.. That bobbed one is from a 2wd since it has the rails that overhang from the sides (outward instead of inward).

I'm pretty sure that's 4wd (notice the mudflaps). It's most likely a Canadian truck as they have the ridge at the top of the bed, along with other countries other than the US.

A 3rd gen bed will fit with minor modifications: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...ra-cab-114091/. They are somewhat easier to find than 2nd gen beds.

I ended up finding an almost rust-free bed from an '87 in Minnesota of all places. I'm guessing the truck it came from wasn't originally from MN. After about 400 miles each way to go get it, it's mine!

Ahh, you're right. The fender bulges give it away too. They must have come with the 2wd (older) style rails up there.

That is probably a fiberglass bed since it is from Slacker's website:http://toyotafiberglass.com/products.htm
