Repair sleeve tool

I need to get a repair sleeve for the harmonic balancer on an '88 22R. I noticed on the Kragen website it says to use with the installation tool. Do I really need to use this tool or can I just push the new sleeve on the harmonic balancer?

sleeve

The ones I have used it tne past...Speedi-sleeve...came with the install tool which really isnt more then a metal cup. But then their sleeves have a lip on the bottom also to help drive the sleeve on.
Personally I think you could do it with an old trick we used to use at the Toyota forklift dealer. Freeze the ˟˟˟˟˟ outta your balancer which will cause the metal to shrink a bit. And soak the sleeve in boiling hot water which will expand it. Then it should practically drop right on. But make sure you get it in the right position before they both lock up. Or just go find a speedi-sleeve the size you need. You could take your balance to the nearest bearing and seal supply shop and have them measure it up.

I pushed it on and then put a flat piece of metal on top of it and just tapped it in place.

Thanks for the input. I will go get a sleeve and if I cannot easily get it on then I will try the freezing/boiling trick.
