Removing Window Handle - 1st Gen?

So - installed my new vent glass last night. Then I decided to hack into the door so I can buy the parts to fix the Window regulator (Window doesn't go up or down)

So I removed the door handle piece and pulled the panel so all the push clips are lose. But I'm damned if I can figure out how to remove the Window Handle! Doesn't seem to be a screw under a flap or anything holding the sucker on there.

How the hell are the window handles held on? Need to remove it to completely remove the door panel.

there is a small "horseshoe" clip holding it on .

have a peak behind , and you'll see it .. there is a special tool to remove it , but i usually just do it with a flat screw driver . a rag also works , by slipping it in behind and turning the handle .

Push the panel in next to the handle and look at where it goes on the shaft. There will be a spring clip on it. Take a screwdriver and just push the clip off and the handle will come off. When you go to put it back on put the clip back on the handle first and then you can just pop it on.

the rag trick works best, if you don't have a trim tool. See where the edges of the clip are and pull against it with a rag behind the handle, will pop the clip right off.

yup, like everyone else said.... i just dealt with this last saturday. if you do use a screwdriver (if you can get at it, actually helps if you use two) make sure to pay attention where that litle clip flies off to! i almost lost mine b/c it just pinged right off into the sky!

The Window regulator was a piece of cake to fix. The job took me about a half an hour.

rag is way easier. put it underneath, and shimmy it back and forth while pulling upward. make sure to watch where the clip goes as it is rather small.

In fact I think the FSM says to use the rag trick!
