Rekeying?

I just bought a 1986 4runner. When I bought the truck the PO told me the the key didnt roll the back window down from the tailgate. That was fine because the switch worked. But upon further inspection the key also doesn't work in the door locks. I've been searching yotatech, google, and anything else I can think of. But is there a rekey kit for our first and second gen trucks?

Just go to a good locksmith (a real one, not the service counter at Kmart). Most of them can make a key for you that'll fit your lock in just a few minutes. Those locks aren't nearly as complicated and secure as you might think:-)

If you Pop out the Hatch lock Cylinder it will make it easier.

What about the ignition switch don`t you want just one key for all your locks??

The door lock cylinder in the passenger door will have a code on it that you can take to Toyota and get a key cut also. Which should be the same as the driver door and tailgate.
